New York University (NYU) er et privat, ikke-kommersielt forskningsbasert universitet i New York i USA. Den største campusen ligger i Greenwich Village i Manhattan. Universitetet ble grunnlagt i 1831 av Albert Gallatin og en gruppe prominente newyorkere og er idag det største private ikke-kommersielle universitetet i USA. NYU består i dag av tre selvakkrediterende universiteter i New York, Abu Dhabi, og Shanghai, samt 11 akademiske sentre i Accra, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Firenze, London, Madrid, Paris, Praha, Sydney, Tel Aviv og Washington, D.C.[17] ARWU rangerer universitetet som verdens 27. beste, og som verdens 8. beste for samfunnsfag.[18]
