Fjoneferga er et kabelfergesamband som krysser et 500 meter bredt sund i Nisser mellom Fjone og Sundsodden. Sambandet knytter sammen øst- og vestsiden av Nisser omtrent midtveis langs det ca. 35 km lange vannet. Veien på land er fylkesvei 3380, mens selve fergen er kommunal.[1]

Dagens ferge, MF «Nissen», er fra 1976. Den frakter ca. 5-6 000 biler årlig. Fjoneferga er Norges minste kabelferge.
Sambandet har vært betjent av forskjellige utgaver av ferga «Nissen» fra starten i 1947, men med et opphold på 1950-tallet. Fram til veien fra Treungen ble åpnet i 1967 var den også det eneste veisambandet til Fjone.[2]
I mars 1976 ble det vedtatt å bygge ny Fjoneferge til 150 000 kroner,[3] som ble levert fra Elvestad Verksted i Skien i starten av oktober samme år.[4]
Ferga har tidligere bare gått mellom mai og nyttår, så for å kunne gi innbyggerne på Fjone mulighet til å krysse over Nisser hele året og til alle døgnets tider, ble det i 2011 startet en underskriftskampanje for å erstatte ferga med bru.[5] Dette førte ikke fram, men høsten 2017 ble det foreslått at ferga som et prøveprosjekt for 2018 og 2019 skal gå hele året.[6] Fartøyet er ikke klassifisert for is, så hvis isen skulle legge seg vil trafikken måtte opphøre for en periode. Prøvedrift med helårsferge ble vedtatt på siste kommunestyremøte i 2017.[7]

Ferga gikk som ny i Haugsjåsund, men ble senere flyttet til Fjonesundet og fikk navnet «Nissen». Da den gikk i Haugsjåsund ble den manuelt sveivet fram etter kabelen av to menn. Senere ble en motorbåt benyttet som framdrift.[9] Da den i 1976 ble avløst av ny ferge ble den solgt til Lieng Bulldoserlag i Kviteseid for 13 500 kroner,[10] og ble i 1978 brukt som lekter i forbindelse med veibygging mellom Østenå og Kilen.[11] I 1985 bevilget fylket midler til å sette ferga inn i trafikk mellom Fjågesund og Østenå (Fylkesvei 3320),[12] og trafikken kom igang 26. januar 1987 med det nye navnet «Østenå».[13] Der gikk den i trafikk helt fram til Fjågesund bru ble åpnet i desember 1997,[14] og har siden da ikke vært benyttet som ferge.
