Tana (også kalt Tanaelva; nordsamisk: Deatnu («Storelva»);[3] kvensk: Teno(joki) eller Taana(njoki); finsk: Teno eller Tenojoki;[4] svensk: Tana älv)[5] er ei elv i Karasjok og Tana kommune i Finnmark og Utsjok kommune i Finland. Elva er 369,6 km lang, regnet fra fjerneste kilde, og den har et nedbørfelt på 16 394 km². Middelvannføringen ved munningen er 210,5 m³/s. Over 256 kilometer av elva utgjør grensa til Finland. Den eksakte grensen følger djupålen i elva, og blir kontrollert hvert 25. år.[6]

Tana dannes ved sammenløpet av elvene Karasjohka og Anarjohka, ca. 14 km øst for tettstedet Karasjok og rundt 3 km nord for den finske bygda Karigasniemi. Fjerneste kilde er et lite tjern på østsiden av fjellet Lulit Bissovárri, rundt åtte kilometer vest-sørvest for Gavdnjajávri på Finnmarksvidda, og rundt en kilometer nord for grensa til Finland.[7]
Elva er kjent for laksefisket og er den største lakseelva i Norge. Tana har verdensrekorden for den største atlantiske laksen tatt på stang. Den veide 36 kilo og ble tatt i 1928. Denne rekorden er imidlertid omdiskutert, da historien ikke er bekreftet. Den offisielle norgesrekorden lyder på 32,5 kilo, og den laksen ble tatt av Nils Walle den 7. juli 1951.
Den gamle Tana bru ble bygd i 1948 og hadde et hovedspenn på 195 meter. Den var den lengste myke hengebrua i Norge. Den nye Tana bru ble bygd i 2020 og har et hovedspenn på 234 meter. Grensepassering til og fra Finland skjer ved Polmak og over Samelandsbrua ved Utsjok.
Elva har mange sideelver, blant annet Váljohka i Karasjok og Lákšjohka i Tana.
Elva munner ut i Tanafjorden. Tanamunningen er et av de største urørte deltaområdene i Europa.
Tana ble i 1980 vernet mot kraftutbygging i Verneplan II for vassdrag.[8]
