Strendur (dansk: Strænder) er en bygd på Færøyene. Den ligger ved Raktangi og munningen av Skálafjørður på Eysturoy. Bygden er administrasjonssentrum i kommunen Sjógv, som har navn etter grenden som rommer Sjóvar kirkja. Strendur hadde 780 innbyggere den 1. januar 2016, mens hele kommunen hadde 947 innbyggere.[1]

Bygdenavnet betyr «strender» på færøysk. Bygden er første gang nevnt i skriftlige kilder fra rundt år 1400.[2] Den er en tradisjonell bonde- og fiskerbygd.
Strendur har en barne- og ungdomsskole (folkeskole) bygd i 1969 og utbygd i 2011. Elevene på ungdomstrinnet også kommer fra Innan Glyvur, Kolbanargjógv, Morskranes, Selatrað, Skáli, Skálabotnur, Oyndarfjørður og Hellurnar.[3] Skolen på Strendur hadde til sammen 135 elever i skoleåret 2014/2015.[4]
Politisk har Strendur vært en bastion for Sambandsflokkurin helt siden partidannelsen i 1906. Lærerne og sambandsmennene Jógvan Poulsen, Johan Poulsen og Johannes Martin Olsen på Strendur var innvalgt på Lagtinget etter tur fra 1883 til 1988. Helgi Abrahamsen var innvalgt fra 2008 til 2015. Et kommunepolitisk spørsmål om et kaianlegg gjorde at Fólkaflokkurin stod like sterkt som Sambandsflokkurin i bygden rundt den andre verdenskrig, men forholdet ble raskt normalisert etter folkeavstemningen om færøysk selvstendighet i 1946.[5]
