Paramaribo er ett av ti distrikter i Surinam. Hovedstaden Paramaribo ligger i distriktet, som er Surinams minste distrikt. Distriktet hadde 240 924 innbyggere i 2012.[1]

Området ble kolonialisert av britene som bygde Fort Willoughby i 1651. Fortet kom senere på nederlandske hender og ble omdøpt Fort Zeelandia i 1667.
