Orkland er et kirkesogn og en tidligere kommune sør i Trøndelag. Sognet omfatter de øvre delene av Orkladalen (Orkdalen) rundt Svorkmo og Vormstad, også kalt Øverbygda, med til dels brede sidedaler.[1] Menighetskirke for Orkland sogn er Moe kirke på Svorkmo. Orkland sogn tilhører Orkdal prosti og Nidaros bispedømme.

Med formannskapslovene av 1837 ble Orkland sogn sammen med resten av prestegjeldet en del av Orkdal formannskapsdistrikt (kommune). Kommunen ble delt i tre 1. juli 1920, da Orkland med 1 760 innbyggere, Orkdal og Orkanger ble etablert som egne kommuner. Den 1. januar 1963 ble Orkland, Orkanger, Orkdal og Geitastrand kommuner slått sammen til den nye Orkdal kommune. Orkland hadde ved sammenslåingen 1 707 innbyggere. I 2020 ble Orkdal, Meldal og Agdenes kommuner og deler av Snillfjord kommune slått sammen til den nye Orkland kommune.
