Mezrich skrev seks romaner, før han gikk over til sakprosa og skrev Bringing Down the House (2003), en bok om seks studenter fra Massachusetts Institute of Technology som vant på blackjack i Las Vegas ved hjelp av korttelling. Boken ble filmatisert som 21 (2008).
I 2004 kom boken Ugly Americans: The True Story of the Ivy League Cowboys Who Raided the Asian Markets for Millions, om en amerikansk trader som drev med arbitrasje i Japan.
I 2005 utga han boken Busting Vegas, en oppfølger til Bringing Down the House, om en annen student som også er involvert i blackjackspill i Las Vegas.
I 2007 kom Dubai Mercantile Exchange, om hvordan børsen Dubai Mercantile Exchange ble dannet, med store fiktive elementer.
I 2009 utga han The Accidental Billionaires, om Mark Zuckerberg og tilblivelsen av Facebook. Boken ble filmatisert av David Fincher som The Social Network. Aaron Sorkin skrev manuset basert på boken, en jobb han ble Oscar-nominert for.
