Ave Maria eller Ver helsa, Maria, òg kalla «Englehelsinga», er ei katolsk bøn retta til Jomfru Maria.
Dei første fire linene er henta frå engelen Gabriels helsing til Maria i Evangeliet etter Lukas.[1] Dei tre siste linene er ei bøn om Marias forbøn. Bøna vert bruka både for seg sjølv og i kombinasjon med andre bøner, og er den mest framtredande delen av rosenkransbøna. Ave Maria er òg sentral i angelusbøna.
Bøna fekk ei sterk stilling i seinmellomalderen. Ho vart sungen fleirstemmig, som regel til ein gregoriansk melodi, alt på 1100-talet. I romantikken fekk ho ny aktualitet, mange komponistar har tonsett songen, spesielt kjende er Franz Schuberts opus 52/6 og Charles Gounods «Méditation», ein tilkomponert melodi over Bachs «Preludium nr. 1» (1722).[2] I den katolske salmeboka Lov Herren er ho teken med på nr. 755 med tone av Kirsten H. Jørgensen.[3]
