Naturresursar er fysikalske førekomstar av materiale og energi som finst i naturen, eventuelt modifisert av menneskeleg aktivitet (t.d. landbruk og husdyrbruk). Plantar, dyr og mineral er typiske naturresursar. Naturfenomen som solstråling og varme, vind, tidvatn og heile økosystem er døme på naturresursar.
Naturresursar blir ofte delte inn i fornybare og ikkje-fornybare ressursar.[1] Forskjellen er om ressursen er i stand til å regenerera seg sjølv (fornybare ressursar) eller ikkje. Plantar og dyr og produkta deira er dermed fornybare ressursar, medan mineral og fossile brensel er ikkje-fornyelege (i det minste innanfor ein relevant menneskeleg tidshorisont).[2] Ein tredje kategori som av og til blir skild frå fornybare ressursar er vedvarande (eller uuttømmelege) ressursar som sol-, vind- og geotermisk energi. I motsetnad til dyr og planter, som kan utryddast som følgje av overforbruk av ressursane, kan desse naturfenomena ikkje påverkast av menneske.
