Het WTA-tennistoernooi van Forest Hills (officieel Forest Hills Tennis Classic) van 2006 vond plaats van 22 tot en met 26 augustus 2006 in Forest Hills, een deel van de wijk Queens in New York. Het was de derde editie van het toernooi. Er werd gespeeld op hardcourtbanen. Aan dit evenement was geen dubbelspeltoernooi verbonden.

De als eerste geplaatste titelverdedigster Lucie Šafářová strandde al in de eerste ronde.
De ongeplaatste Meghann Shaughnessy uit de Verenigde Staten won het toernooi. In de finale versloeg zij de eveneens ongeplaatste Israëlische Anna Smashnova in drie sets. Shaughnessy wist voor het eerst in haar carrière het toernooi van Forest Hills op haar naam te schrijven. Het was haar vijfde WTA-titel, de tweede van 2006.
