De Eredivisie is de hoogste afdeling van het Nederlandse handbal bij de vrouwen op landelijk niveau. In het seizoen 1987/1988 werd SEW landskampioen. Auto Caubo/Iason en VGZ/Sittardia degradeerden naar de Eerste divisie.
