Daisaku Ikeda

Daisaku Ikeda (Japans: 池田 大作, Ikeda Daisaku) (Tokio, 2 januari 1928 – aldaar, 15 november 2023) was een Boeddhistisch filosoof, auteur en activist.

Biografie

Sedert zijn negentien jaar bestudeerde en beoefende hij het Nichiren Boeddhisme. In zijn jonge jaren was hij actief in de jeugdbewegingen. Op 3 mei 1960 werd hij verkozen tot derde president van de Soka Gakkai, waarbij hij hier de rol van de jeugd stimuleerde. Daarnaast stichtte hij de Komeito, een politieke partij die door de Soka Gakkai werd gesteund.

Ikeda was eveneens bekend als anti-kernwapen activist. Hij overleed op 95-jarige leeftijd in november 2023.^[1]
