Jumaat Hitam (Parsi: جمعه سیاه, rumi: Jom'e-ye Siyāh ) ialah nama yang diberikan kepada kejadian yang berlaku pada 8 September 1978 (17 Shahrivar 1357 dalam kalendar Iran) di Iran,[9] di mana 64,[1] atau sekurang-kurangnya 100[10][11] orang ramai ditembak mati dan 205 cedera oleh tentera Pahlavi di Dataran Jaleh (Parsi: میدان ژاله, rumi: Meydān-e Jāleh ) di Tehran.[12][13] Menurut ahli sejarah tentera Spencer C. Tucker, 94 terbunuh pada Jumaat Hitam terdiri daripada 64 penunjuk perasaan dan 30 pasukan keselamatan kerajaan.[2] Kematian ini digambarkan sebagai peristiwa penting dalam Revolusi Iran yang menamatkan sebarang "harapan untuk kompromi" antara gerakan protes dan rejim Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.[14]

Ketika protes terhadap pemerintahan Shah berterusan pada separuh pertama tahun 1978, kerajaan Iran mengisytiharkan undang-undang tentera. Pada 8 September, beribu-ribu orang berkumpul di Dataran Jaleh Tehran untuk demonstrasi agama, tidak menyedari bahawa kerajaan telah mengisytiharkan undang-undang tentera sehari lebih awal.[15]
Sekumpulan penunjuk perasaan telah berkumpul di dataran Jaleh, Tehran, yang dikelilingi oleh tentera. Perhimpunan itu ditembak sewenang-wenangnya oleh tentera yang menyebabkan kematian ramai orang.[16]
Jumaat Hitam dianggap telah menandakan titik tidak kembali untuk revolusi, dan ia membawa kepada pemansuhan monarki Iran kurang dari setahun kemudian. Ia juga dipercayai bahawa Jumaat Hitam memainkan peranan penting dalam meradikalkan lagi gerakan protes, menyatukan pembangkang kepada Shah dan menggerakkan massa. Kejadian itu digambarkan oleh ahli sejarah Ervand Abrahamian sebagai "lautan darah antara shah dan rakyat."[4] Pada mulanya, pembangkang dan wartawan barat mendakwa bahawa tentera Iran telah membunuh beribu-ribu penunjuk perasaan.[3][17][18] Kepimpinan ulama mengumumkan bahawa "beribu-ribu telah dibunuh oleh tentera Zionis".[19] Menurut ahli sejarah Abbas Amanat:[20]
Aktivis perkeranian, yang disokong oleh marja Qom , memanfaatkan pembunuhan beramai-ramai Dataran Jaleh untuk menggambarkan rejim itu sebagai kejam dan tidak sah. Dibantu oleh mesin penyebar khabar angin yang beroperasi sepenuhnya tanpa ketiadaan media dan laporan berita yang boleh dipercayai, jumlah korban, "syahid" di jalan Islam, meningkat kepada beribu-ribu, dan tentera yang melepaskan tembakan ke atas mereka adalah dilabelkan sebagai tentera upahan Israel yang dibawa masuk untuk menghancurkan revolusi.
Peristiwa itu mencetuskan bantahan yang berterusan selama empat bulan lagi. Sehari selepas Jumaat Hitam, Amir-Abbas Hoveyda meletak jawatan sebagai menteri mahkamah atas sebab yang tidak berkaitan.
Mogok umum pada Oktober menutup industri petroleum yang penting untuk kelangsungan pentadbiran, "menutup nasib Shah".[21] Penerusan protes akhirnya menyebabkan Shah meninggalkan Iran pada Januari 1979, membuka jalan bagi Revolusi Iran, yang dipimpin oleh Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.[22][23][24][25][26][27][28]
Pada mulanya, media Barat dan pembangkang melaporkan "15,000 mati dan cedera", tetapi pegawai kerajaan Iran melaporkan bahawa 86 orang telah meninggal dunia di Tehran sepanjang hari.[29][30] Ahli teori sosial Perancis Michel Foucault pertama kali melaporkan bahawa 2,000 hingga 3,000 orang telah meninggal dunia di Dataran Jaleh, dan dia kemudiannya menaikkan jumlah itu kepada 4,000.[3] Johann Beukes, pengarang Foucault di Iran, 1978–1979, menyatakan bahawa "Foucault nampaknya telah mematuhi kiraan kematian yang dibesar-besarkan ini di Dataran Jaleh, yang disebarkan oleh orang ramai yang memberontak sendiri. Beribu-ribu orang cedera, tetapi jumlah kematian tidak mungkin menyumbang lebih daripada ratus orang terkorban".[31]
Wartawan BBC di Iran, Andrew Whitley, melaporkan bahawa ratusan telah mati.[32]
Menurut ahli sejarah tentera Spencer C. Tucker, 94 terbunuh pada Jumaat Hitam, terdiri daripada 64 penunjuk perasaan dan 30 pasukan keselamatan kerajaan.[2] Menurut pakar Iran Richard Foltz, 64 penunjuk perasaan maut di Dataran Jaleh.[1]
Menurut Emadeddin Baghi, bekas penyelidik di Yayasan Syuhada (Parsi: Bonyad Shahid, sebahagian daripada kerajaan Iran semasa, yang memberi pampasan kepada keluarga mangsa) yang diupah "untuk memahami data" mereka yang terbunuh, termasuk 64 yang terbunuh di Dataran Jaleh pada Jumaat Hitam, dengan dua wanita: seorang wanita dan seorang gadis muda. Pada hari yang sama di bahagian lain di ibu negara, 24 orang maut dalam pertempuran dengan pasukan tentera, dengan seorang wanita, menjadikan jumlah korban pada hari yang sama kepada 88 kematian.[3] Sumber lain meletakkan tabulasi jumlah kematian Yayasan Syuhada pada 84 pada hari itu.[33]
Nama dataran itu kemudiannya ditukar kepada Dataran Syuhada (Maidan-e Shohada) oleh Republik Islam Iran.[18]
Sejak tahun 2000-an, beberapa bekas ahli politik dinasti Pahlavi telah mencadangkan kekaburan yang lebih besar dalam situasi itu, khususnya kehadiran gerila Palestin di Iran, yang mereka percaya sebagai penghasut.[34][35]
Pada tahun 1978 sejurus selepas pembunuhan beramai-ramai, pemuzik Iran Hossein Alizadeh menetapkan puisi Siavash Kasraie tentang acara itu kepada muzik. Mohammad Reza Shajarian menyanyikan lagu "Jāleh Khun Shod" (Melayu: "Embun" bertukar menjadi darah).[36]
Nastaran Akhavan, salah seorang yang terselamat, menulis buku Spared mengenai peristiwa itu. Buku itu menerangkan bagaimana pengarangnya dipaksa ke dalam gelombang besar-besaran ribuan penunjuk perasaan yang marah, yang kemudiannya dibunuh oleh tentera Shah.[37] Permainan video pengembaraan 2016 1979 Revolution: Black Friday adalah berdasarkan acara tersebut. Permainan ini diarahkan oleh Navid Khonsari, yang masih kanak-kanak pada masa revolusi dan mengakui dia tidak mempunyai pandangan yang realistik tentang apa yang sedang berlaku. Khonsari menyifatkan mencipta permainan itu sebagai "(mahu) orang ramai merasai keghairahan dan kegembiraan berada dalam revolusi - merasakan bahawa anda mungkin boleh membuat perubahan."[38]
