Hardella thurjii adalah spesies monotipikal bagi genus Hardella
H. thurjii boleh dijumpai di utara India, Pakistan, dan Bangladesh di lembangan saliran sungai Ganges, sungai Brahmaputra, dan Sungai Indus.
H. thurjii mempunyai cangkerang karapas yang besar, lebih rata, bercoklat kehitaman, manakala plastronnya berwarna kuning.[2] Panjang karapasnya adalah 18 inci (460 mm) bagi betina dan lebih pendek pada jantan.[3]
