മെക്സിക്കോ

വടക്കേ അമേരിക്കൻ വൻ‌കരയിലുള്ള രാജ്യമാണ് മെക്സിക്കോ (ഇംഗീഷ്: /ˈmɛksɪkoʊ/) (Spanish: México^ⓘ സ്പാനിഷ് ഉച്ചാരണം: [മെഹ്ഹിക്കോ]), എന്ന പേരിലറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഐക്യ മെക്സിക്കൻ നാടുകൾ^[10] (Spanish: Estados Unidos Mexicanos^ⓘ). മെക്സിക്കോയുടെ തലസ്ഥാനം മെക്സിക്കോ സിറ്റിയാണ്‌. അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യനാടുകൾ, ബെലീസ്, ഗ്വാട്ടിമാല എന്നിവയാണ് അയൽ രാജ്യങ്ങൾ^[11][12]. ലോകത്തേറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ പേർ സ്പാനിഷ് ഭാഷ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത് മെക്സിക്കോയിലാണ്. മെക്സിക്കോയുടെ ദേശീയ പുഷ്പം ഡാലിയ ആണ്.

1521-ൽ സ്പെയിൻ ഈ പ്രദേശം പിടിച്ചടക്കി കോളനിവൽക്കരിച്ചു. ന്യൂ സ്പെയിനിലെ വൈസ്രോയി ആണ് ഇവിടം ഭരിച്ചത്. പിന്നീട് 1821-ലാണ് കോളനികൾ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം നേടിയത്.
