റെയിൻഡിയർ

റെയിൻഡിയറിന് ഇംഗ്ലീഷിൽ Reindeer എന്നും Caribou എന്നും പേരുകളുണ്ട്. Rangifer tarandus എന്നാണ് ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം. എസ്കിമോകൾ ഇവയെ ഇണക്കി വളർത്തുന്നു. ആർട്ടിക്, സബ്ആർട്ടിക്, തുന്ദ്ര, ബോറിയൽ എന്നീ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ കാണുന്നു. മിക്ക ഇനങ്ങളിലും ആണിനും പെണ്ണിനും കൊമ്പുകൾ (antlers) ഉണ്ട്. മാൻ വർഗ്ഗങ്ങളിൽ ആണിനും പെണ്ണിനും കൊമ്പുള്ളത് ഇവയ്ക്ക് മാത്രമാണ്.
