ഇന്ത്യയിൽ തദ്ദേശവാസിയായിരുന്ന 4 മീറ്റർ വരെ ഉയരത്തിൽ വളരുന്ന ഒരു മരമായിരുന്നു വെന്റ്‌ലാന്റിയ ആംഗുസ്റ്റിഫോളിയ. (ശാസ്ത്രീയനാമം: Wendlandia angustifolia ). ആവാസവ്യവസ്ഥയുടെ നാശമാണ് വംശനാശം നേരിടാൻ കാരണം. ആന്ധ്രാപ്രദേശിലെ കടപ്പയിലെ വരണ്ട കാടുകളിൽ കണ്ടിരുന്നു. [1] കുറ്റാലത്തും തിരുനെൽവേലിയിലും നേരത്തെ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. ആ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ വളരെ നന്നായി തിരഞ്ഞെങ്കിലും പിന്നീട് കാണാനായിട്ടില്ല. [2]
