Pie pilsētas atrodas t.s. Trīs Ozolu lidlauks (Letisko Tri Duby), kam bija ievērojama loma Slovākijas nacionālās sacelšanās laikā. Pati pilsēta dibināta 1959. gadā, apvienojot Hājniku un Ribāres ciematus.
Pēc etniskās piederības vairums pilsētas iedzīvotāju ir slovāki (96,1 %). Pēc reliģiskās pārliecības — katoļi (46,1 %), nereliģiozi (26,7 %) un luterāņi (22,1 %).
