2010 m. buvo įkurta lyga, tačiau dabartiniu formatu varžybos vykdomos nuo 2017–2018 metų sezono.
Visos dvylika komandų tarpusavyje sužaidžia po dvi rungtynes. Daugiausiai taškų turinti komanda tampa Anglijos čempione.
Čempionės patenka į UEFA moterų čempionų lygos turnyrą. Antrą vietą užėmusi komanda irgi patenka į turnyrą.
Visos dvylika komandų tarpusavyje sužaidžia po dvi rungtynes. Daugiausiai taškų turinti komanda tampa Anglijos čempione.
