Vena portae sive vena portarum[1] est maxima vena systematis venarum portalium, quae ab unione venae splenicae et venarum mesentericarum superioris et inferioris formatur. Vena portae iecoris ex apparatu digestorio et glandulis eius sanguinem aufert et ad iecur vehit. Antequam haec vena in portam iecoris intrat, se in duos ramos (dexterum ac sinistrum) dividit. Postea sanguis hepatis, qui et partim ex arteria hepatica propria affluxit, per venam cavam inferiorem ad cor vehitur.[2]
