Granitum (-i, n, sc. 'marmor')[1] sive granites[2][3] (-ae, m, sc. 'lapis') est lapis, accuratius saxum igneum, ex quo maxima pars terrae continentis consistit. Granitum infra superficiem orbis terrarum natum est, saepissime in profundo plus duorum chiliometrorum, cum magma in crystalla mutatum est. Granitum abundat quarzo, spathis, sed etiam fuscis mineralibus, imprimis mica. Magna est in graniti speciebus diversitas.
