In anatomia axis (-is, m.) sive epistropheus (ἐπιστροφεὺς, graece: "versator" [1]) (FCAT: A02.2.02.201) est vertebra cervicalis secunda (C 2) hominis, mammalium, reptilium et avium, quae infra vel post atlantem, primam cervicalem et primam omnino vertebram (C 1) invenitur, in quem processum, dens vocatum, inicit[2].
