Ava[1] (Birmanice အင္းဝ Anva), urbs 22 milia passuum a Mandale distans, iuxta urbis Amarapurae ad ripam sinistram fluminis Eiavadi iacens, fuit caput regni Birmaniae inter annos 1364 et 1527, rursusque inter 1636 et 1841. Nomen sollemne Avae in lingua Pali est Ratanapura (scriptura Birmanica ရတနာပူရ), scilicet "urbs gemmatum". Hodie urbs superest inter ruinis templorum antiquorum.
