Tunicata sunt grex animalium sacciformium et marinorum quae siphonibus incurrentibus excurrentibusque percolandis vescuntur et intra phylum Chordata classificantur. Plurima urochordata in alveo oceani habitant, sed alia—sicut Salpidae, Doliolida, et Pyrosomida—adulti super zonam pelagicam vivunt. Urochordata olim "Ascadia" appellabantur.[1]
