Ab anno 1978 litteras Germanicas apud universitatem Tergestinam docuit. Magris diario Corriere della Sera et aliis diariis Europeicis operam dat. Magris anno 1987 operis Danubio gratia Praemium Bagutta, anno 1997 operis Microcosmi Praemium Strega, anno 2001 Praemium Erasmianum et anno 2009 Praemium pacis a librorum mercatoribus Germanicis tributum accepit.
