Althaea officinalis, antique althaea (Graece etiam ἀλθαία), est species generis Althaeae plantarum Europae et Asiae occidentali indigenarum, ripas fluminum et paludes salsas habitantes in terris humidis et harenosis. Haec species perutilis in medicina dolores gutturis mitigat; nomen Anglicum marsh mallow dedit dulciis olim sucum althaeae continentibus, sed nunc e saccharo et albumine ovorum confectis.
