アラビア語チャド方言

アラビア語チャド方言は、アラビア語の口語（アーンミーヤ）のひとつでチャド周辺で話されている。シュワ、シュア、スワ、ショア、ショワ、バッガラ・アラビア語、バッカラ・アラビア語、バッガーラ・アラビア語、バッカーラ・アラビア語、西スーダン方言ともよばれる。ただし、シュワはナイジェリアの特定の言語をさしている単語であり、西洋人がこの単語をこの方言の言語学の学術用語として採用してしまったものであり、現地の話者がこれをもちいることはない。100万人を超える人々が第一言語として用いており^[2]、このなかに都市住民や遊牧民を含む。この方言の話者の多くはチャド南部に分布していて、方言の話者分布域の大半がチャドやスーダンにある。また、チャド湖周辺でも用いられるためカメルーン、ナイジェリア、ニジェールにも話者が存在している。さらに、南スーダン、中央アフリカにも少し存在している。また、周辺諸国の非母語話者は、リングワ・フランカ（共通語）として用いられることもあるが、その場合においてはいくつかの地方言語のひとつとして用いられるにすぎない。
