ジュリー・ジルー

ジュリー・ジルー（Julie Ann Giroux、1961年12月12日 - ）は、アメリカ合衆国の作曲家。

作曲家のジュリー・ジルーが、自作のピアノとオーケストラのための「コルドバ」を演奏している。(2010年、アメリカ合衆国テキサス州ヒューストン)

マサチューセッツ州のブリストル郡のフェアヘーヴン（英語版）で生まれた。オーケストラや合唱、室内楽、吹奏楽の曲を多く作っている。

生涯

ルイジアナ州モンローのワシタ高校を卒業し、同州バトンルージュのルイジアナ州立大学で音楽の学士号を取得した。 在学中に作曲した吹奏楽曲はSouthern Music Companyから発売されている^[1]。 卒業後すぐにカリフォルニア州ロサンゼルスに移住し、ビル・コンティの下でTVドラマ(「南北戦争物語 愛と自由への大地」)の音楽を担当した。 ロサンゼルスでは他にJack EskewやGreg McRitchieにも師事した。

1985年～1997年には、「April Fool's Day」や「王朝」^[2]、「南北戦争物語」(1期、2期)^[3][4]、「The Karate Kid Part II」、「ブロードキャスト・ニュース」、「Masters of the Universe」^[5]、「白人は跳べない」^[6]、「ブレイズ」^[7]の音楽を担当した。

1997年、ジルーは特にMusica Propriaと共に吹奏楽曲やオーケストラ曲を作曲した^[8]。

2004年、Gia出版^[9]の「Composers on Composing for Band, Volume Two」で1つの章を担当した。

2009年、ジルーは自ら「吹奏楽と独奏ピアノのためのコルドバ」^[10]をピアノ奏者として国内5都市で演奏した。 また、テキサス州ブレナム（英語版）のブリン大学（英語版）で、「吹奏楽と独奏Fチューバのための作品」で「Arcus IX」に出場した^[11]。 世界銀行が出資したドキュメンタリーの「Call for Green China」^[12]でも音楽を担当し、中国の7都市で演奏された。

2018年6月9日、Todd Nichols率いる東方吹奏楽団がジルーの「交響曲第5番Elements」を演奏した。 12月、Ray Cramerの指揮でトランペット協奏曲を、NY交響楽団のクリストファー・マーチンと武蔵野音楽大学がMidwest Clinicで演奏する。

現在はミシシッピ州マディソンで暮らしている。
