Rekaviður er viður sem rekið hefur á land með sjávarstraumum.
Rekaviður sem berst á land á Íslandi hefur ávallt verið talinn mikilvæg hlunnindi. Á Ströndum eru til dæmis margar góðar rekajarðir.[1] Kirkjujarðir og stórbýli víða um land áttu ítök í rekanum um aldir og höfðingjar sóttu langt að til að sækja við til bygginga. Oft voru askar smíðaðir úr rekaviði.
Talið er að rekaviðurinn berist alla leið frá ströndum Síberíu. Af volkinu í sjónum verður hann gegnsýrður af salti sjávar og fær þannig náttúrulega vörn gegn fúa. Rekaviður er því oft á tíðum afbragðs smíðaviður.
