Sting merupakan penulis lagu utama, vokalis, dan bassis untuk band rock new wave the Police dari 1977 hingga 1984, dan meluncurkan karier solo pada tahun 1985. Dia telah memasukkan unsur-unsur rock, jazz, reggae, klasik, new age, dan world beat dalam musiknya.[1]
