Isabel Lucas belajar seni peran beberapa tahun selama dia menjalani pendidikan. Kemudian dia melanjutkan di Victoria College of Arts dan Queensland University of Technology. Saat dia berlibur dia berkenal dengan pencari bakat, Sharron Meissner, lalu mengikuti audisi untuk peran Kit Hunter untuk Home and Away. Julie McGauran sebagai produser acara merasa peran yang tidak tepat untuk Isabel, sehingga dia menciptakan karakter baru untuk Isabel, Tasha Andrews. Tahun 2009, dia tampil dalam film bergenre fiksi ilmiah-thriller Daybreakers bersama Willem Dafoe. Selama bekerja sama dengan Steven Spielberg dalam miniseri The Pacific, Spielberg menunjuk Isabel bermain dalam Alice dalam salah satu sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen yang bertindak sebagai produser, bersama sutradara Michael Bay.
