In le astronomia moderne, un constellation[1] es un region definite internationalmente del sphera celestial. Iste regiones se gruppa circa asterismos, patronos formate per stellas prominente in proximitate apparente le unes le alteres in le celo nocturnal del Terra.

Il ha 88 constellationes normal recognoscite per le Union International Astronomic (IAU) depost 1922. Le majoritate de istos remonta al 48 constellationes definite per Ptolemeo in su Almagest (seculo II). Le restante se trova in le celo del sud, definite in Coelum australe stelliferum per Nicolas Louis de Lacaille (1763).
Il ha etiam numerose constellationes historic non recognoscite per le IAU, o constellationes recognoscite in traditiones regional del astronomia o astrologia, tal como le chinese, hindu, o aboriginal australian.
