Մամեստիա, Մսիս, Մասիս, Մոպսուեստիա, Մամիստրա, Մալմիստրա, Մոպսոս (հին հունական Մոպսոս աստծո անունով), քաղաք Դաշտային Կիլիկիայում, Ադանայից մոտ 25 կմ հյուսիս-արևելք, Պիրամոս (Զահան) գետի աջ ափին։
Հելլենիստական դարաշրջանում եղել է բարգավաճ ու ինքնավար քաղաք։ Հռոմի տիրապետության ժամանակ դարձել է կայսերական կարևոր հենակետ Արևելքում։ Ժամանակավորապես (մ.թ.ա. 80-70-ական թթ.) Մամեստիան Դաշտային Կիլիկիայով հանդերձ, անցել է Հայաստանին։
Քրիստոնեության հաստատումից հետո Մամեստիան եղել է ինքնավար արքեպիսկոպոսի աթոռանիստ։ IV դ. վերջին և V դ. սկզբին Մամեստիայի արքեպիսկոպոսն էր հռչակավոր գիտնական Թեոդորոս Մոպսուեստացին, որի հետ նամակագրական սերտ կապերի մեջ էին Մեսրոպ Մաշտոցը, Սահակ Պարթևը, Եզնիկ Կողբացին և ուրիշ հայ գործիչներ։
Հռոմեական կայսրության բաժանումից (IV դ. վերջ) հետո Մամեստիան մնացել է Բյուզանդիայի տիրապետության ներքո։ VII-X դդ. Մամեստիան տիրել են մե՛րթ արաբները, մե՛րթ բյուզանդացիները։ X-XI դդ. հայերը կազմել են Մամեստիայի բնակչության գերակշռող տարրը։ XI դարի 1-ին կեսին Բյուզանդիան այն հանձնել էր հայ իշխան Աբչղարիբ Արծրունուն։ Նույն դարի վերջին Մամեստիան նվաճեցին խաչակիր ասպետները (այդ ժամանակ Մամեստիայի քաղաքապետն էր Ասպետ հայ իշխանը)։
XII դ. 1-ին կեսին հզորացած Ռուբինյանները հաղթեցին խաչակիրներին և ամբողջ Դաշտային Կիլիկիան, Մամեստիայով հանդերձ, միավորեցին Կիլիկյան Հայաստանին։ Մամեսը դարձավ համանուն նահանգի կենտրոնը։ 1152-ին բյուգանդական զորավար Անդրոնիկոսը պաշարեց Մամեստիայի և փորձեց զավթել այն։ Սակայն Թորոս Բ Մեծ իշխանը ջախջախեց նրան և ազատագրեց Մամեստիան։ 1188-ին Լևոն Բ Մեծը Մամեստիայի հսկողությունը հանձնարարեց Չորտվանել Սասնեցու որդի Հեթումին՝ նրան կնության տալով իր եղբոր՝ Ռուբենի դստերը՝ Ալիծին։
Մսիս քաղաքից ոչ հեռու, Ջիբել֊էն֊նուր լեռնաշղթայի ճյուղավորությունների միջև գտնվում է Արըխ (Առըխ, Արըխ-Յոզասի) դաշտը[1]։
