Középiskoláit szülővárosában végezvén, 1869-ben a pesti egyetem jogi karánál iratkozott be; 1874-ben jogi doktorrá avatták, 1875-ben pedig ügyvédi oklevelet nyert és szülővárosában telepedett le, ahol egyúttal az ügyvédi kamara ügyésze lett és társadalmilag is élénk tevékenységet fejtett ki. Elnöke lett a torna-egyesületnek, a Nimrod vadásztársulatnak sat. Ezen minőségében az 1900-as évek elején többször is meghívta Ady Endrét a társaság felolvasó ülésére.[2] 1896-ban királyi tanácsos lett; 1898. február 15-én pedig Szeged város I. kerületének országgyűlési képviselőjévé választották, amit 1906-ig töltött be.
