Redl ezredes (en alemán: Oberst Redl) é un filme húngaro de 1985 dirixido por István Szabó. A trama, ambientada no período anterior á primeira guerra mundial, segue o ascenso de Alfred Redl, un oficial no Imperio Austrohúngaro. Redl, de orixe humilde, ingresa na escola militar de neno e comeza unha ilustre carreira militar en virtude da súa lealdade á coroa. É nomeado xefe dunha unidade de recollida de intelixencia, pero a súa atracción polos homes finalmente provoca a súa caída. O guión, vagamente inspirado na obra do dramaturgo británico John Osborne, A Patriot for Me, recolle o aumento das tensións interétnicas en Austro-Hungría, que provocaron o asasinato en Saraxevo e a eventual desintegración do imperio. Está protagonizado por Klaus Maria Brandauer, Jan Niklas e Gudrun Landgrebe.

Alfred Redl, un neno ruteno procedente de Galicia no Imperio Austrohúngaro, gaña un nomeamento nunha prestixiosa academia militar a pesar de ser fillo dun campesiño. Á súa saída da casa, a súa nai incúlcalle eterna gratitude cara ao emperador Francisco Xosé I de Austria. Redl nunca debe esquecer que lle debe a súa prometedora carreira ao emperador.
