Arab Strap foi un grupo musical de indie rock escocés. Pertencía ao selo independente Chemikal Underground, e desfíxose en 2006.

O cantante Aidan Moffat e o multi-instrumentista Malcolm Middleton creceron en Falkirk, onde compartían gusto polo Drag City gravando a grupos como Smog ou Will Oldham, así como o seu gusto polo alco barato. Comezaron a tocar xuntos en 1995, e en 1996 apareceu o seu primeiro disco, The Week Never Starts Round Here.
Durante os 10 anos de existencia Arab Strap traballaron con moitos músicos, como Jenny Reeve ou Stacey Sievewright, así como Adele Bethel e David Gow, que deixaron a formación para crear Sons and Daughters. Stuart Murdoch, de Belle & Sebastian, aparece no álbum Philophobia, pero a canción "The Boy with the Arab Strap" (e o disco a que dá título) foron creados entre os dous cantantes.
As marcas características de Arab Strap son as súas letras sórdidas e persoais, á par que honestas. Ao igual que The Proclaimers, banda tamén escocesa, as súas cancións son cantadas na súa lingua nativa, a lingua scots. Ao principio era esencialmente unha banda electroacústica cun son melancólico e sombrío, pero en posteriores álbums e concertos o grupo desenvolveu un son máis completo que se inspirou profundamente na música indie e dance.
