Robin McLaurin Williams, nado en Chicago, Illinois o 21 de xullo de 1951 e finado en Paradise Cay, California o 11 de agosto de 2014, foi un comediante e actor estadounidense. Acadou a fama co papel do alieníxena Mork na Mork & Mindy (1978–1982), e labrou unha exitosa carreira como cómico e actor de cine. A súa carreira cinematográfica inclúe filmes como The World According to Garp (1982), Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), Dead Poets Society (1989), Espertares (1990), The Fisher King (1991) e Good Will Hunting (1997), así como éxitos de recadación como Popeye (1980), Hook, o capitán Garfo (1991), Aladdin (1992), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), Jumanji (1995), Unha gaiola de grilos (1996), Night at the Museum (2006), Happy Feet (2006), e Happy Feet Two (2011). Tamén apareceu no "Don't Worry, Be Happy" de Bobby McFerrin.
Nomeado ó Óscar ó mellor actor por tres veces, Williams recibiu o Óscar ó mellor actor secundario pola súa interpretación en Good Will Hunting. Tamén gañou dous Premios Emmy, catro Globos de Ouro, dous Premios Screen Actors Guild e cinco Premios Grammy.[1][2]
O 11 de agosto de 2014, Williams foi atopado inconsciente na súa residencia do Paradise Cay, California e foi declarado morto no lugar. Segundo a oficina do forense do Condado de Marin, a causa da morte foi suicidio por asfixia.[3]
