I nÉirinn na meánaois, cáin ab ea an Bóramha (Meán-Ghaeilge Bórama, Bóruma, Bóraime), ar ghá do chuige Laighean a íoc do mhuintir Uí Néill. Tá scéal ann den teideal Bórama atá mar chuid de Scéalaíocht na Ríthe, le meascán phróis agus filíochta. Is amhlaidh gur scríobhadh é sa 10ú/11ú haois. Caomhnaítear é in dhá leagan sa Leabhar Laighneach agus sa Leabhar Buí Leacáin.
Is é de bhrí le Bóraime[1] ná bó-ríme, bó-ríomhe, is é sin, áireamh na mbó.
Is logainm a áit dúchais é leasainm an Ardrí, Brian Bóramha, is é sin, Béal Bórú, Contae an Chláir.[2][3]
Sa chéad aois, d'éiligh rí de mhuintir Uí Néill Túathal Techtmar ar ríthe na Laighean éiric (nó lóg n-enech) darbh ainm Bóramha. Thug sé mar chosaint na cánach ná dúnmharú a bheirte iníonacha. Ba chúis achrainn fhuilteach i gcónaí é ámh, méid na cánach.
Ba phríomhphearsa san achrann seo thar na glúnta ab ea Brian Bóramha na Mumhan (ainmnithe as áit a bhreithe, féach Sanasaíocht thuas). Chuaigh sé i gceann na hArd-Ríogachta agus throid sé in éadan mhuintir Uí Néill sa Chath Chluain Tarbh, cé gur maraíodh é tar éis an chatha.
