Is crústaigh beaga iad na crilleanna[1] den ord Euphausiacea, a fhaightear i ngach aigéan ina mbeathaíonn siad go príomha ar fhíteaplanctóin agus ar gné bhunúsach iad den ghréasán trófach (“an slabhra bia”) d'éiceachórais mhuirí. Tagann an t-ainm "crill" ón bhfocal Ioruaise krill, rud a chiallaíonn “gealóg bheag iasc”.
