The Illustrated London News oli brittiläinen aikakauslehti, jonka perustivat Herbert Ingram ja hänen ystävänsä, Punch-lehden toimittaja Mark Lemon. Lemon toimi Ingramin neuvontantajana, kun Illustrated London Newsin ensimmäinen numero julkaistiin 14. toukokuuta 1842. Siinä oli kuusitoista sivua ja 32 puupiirrosta. Ensimmäisessä painoksessa oli kuvitettuja artikkeleita muun muassa Ranskan junaonnettomuudesta, Afganistanissa riehuneesta sodasta sekä Buckinghamin palatsin pukujuhlista.[1]
Vaikka ensimmäistä numeroa saatiin kaupattua 26 000 kappaletta, väheni levikki merkittävästi seuraavien numeroiden yhteydessä. Herbert Ingram toteutti kuitenkin kekseliään kampanjan lehden markkinoimiseksi. Hän lähetti kaikille Englannin papeille kopion Canterburyn arkkipiispan virkaanastujaisia käsitelleestä numerosta, joka sisälsi kuvia tapahtumasta. Lehti saikin näin lukuisia uusia tilaajia.[2] Levikki lähti nousuun, ja vuoteen 1856 mennessä se oli kohonnut jo 200 000:een[3].
The Illustrated London News oli ensimmäinen valokuvia käyttänyt aikakauslehti.[4] Lehteä julkaistiin viikoittain vuoteen 1971 asti, jolloin se alkoi ilmestyä kuukausittain. Vuodesta 1989 lähtien sitä julkaistiin kaksi kertaa kuussa, sitten neljännesvuosittain kunnes vuonna 2003 se lakkasi ilmestymästä.
Nykyisin The Illustrated London News toimii Illustrated London News Group -nimisenä viestintäyrityksenä.[5][6]
