Kirjat Shmona (hepreaksi קִרְיַת שְׁמוֹנָה,) on kaupunki Pohjois-Israelissa, Hulanlaakson länsirinteillä lähellä Libanonin rajaa.
Kirjat Shmona sijaitsee Israelin pohjoisosassa Hulanlaaksossa. Kaupungin alkuperäinen keskusta sijaitsee kapealla basalttiharjanteella. Sittemmin kaupungin kasvaessa se on levittäytynyt myös ylös vuorenrinteitä lännessä.[1]
Ennen nykyisen Kirjat Shmonan perustamista sen paikalla sijaitsi Khalisa-niminen arabikylä.[1] Nimi Kirjat Shmona tarkoittaa kahdeksan kaupunkia.[2] Nimi annettiin Tel Haita vuonna 1920 arabien hyökkäykseltä puolustaneen kahdeksan juutalaisen muistoksi. Arabikylä hylättiin Israelin itsenäisyyssodan yhteydessä vuonna 1948 ja nykyinen Kirjat Shmonan kaupunki perustettiin vuonna 1950.[1]
Vuodesta 1968 lähtien Kirjat Shmonaa tulitettiin Libanonin puolelta rajaa. Hyökkäykset kiihtyivät 1970- ja 1980-luvuilla, mikä johti osaltaan Libanonin sotaan. Sodan jälkeen Hizbollah on jatkanut ajoittaisia iskuja kaupunkiin. Tilanne rauhoittui osittain Israelin vetäydyttyä Libanonista toukokuussa 2000.[1]
Kirjat Shmonan asukasluku oli vuoden 2018 lopussa 22 625.[3] Vuonna 2002 vastaava lukema oli 21 600, vuonna 1969 15 300, vuonna 1959 10 000 ja vuonna 1954 3 300.[1]
