Beit Dagan sijaitsee lähellä Tel Avivin kaupunkia.[1]
Beit Dagan on saanut nimensä raamatulliselta paikalta Bet-Dagon, jolla viitattiin Vanhassa testamentissa useampiin eri paikkoihin. Kaupunkina sen mainitsevat muut historalliset lähteet, kuten Eusebios. Ennen nykyisen kaupungin perustamista paikkakunta oli arabien asuttama kylä nimeltä Beit Dajan.[1]
Israelin itsenäisyyssodan sytyttyä Beit Dajanissa käytiin raskaita taisteluja juutalaisten yrittäessä turvata liikenneväylän Tel Avivista kohti Jerusalemia. Kylän arabit pakenivat kodeistaan ja kylä liitettiin sodan tuloksena Israeliin. Sen ensimmäiset juutalaiset siirtolaiset saapuivat paikalle Bulgariasta vuoden 1948 lopussa. Ensin perustetusta mošavista kehittyi nopeasti Tel Avivin kasvun mukana kaupunkialue. Se sai oman kunnallisvaltuustonsa vuonna 1953 ja vuonna 1963 siellä aloitti toimintansa Israelin ilmatieteen laitos.[1]
Beit Daganin asukasluku oli vuoden 2018 lopussa 7 211.[2] Vuonna 2002 vastaava lukema oli 4 830 ja vuonna 1968 2 680.[1]
