Richard Hoggart

Richard Hoggart (Leeds, Erresuma Batua, 1918ko irailaren 24a - 2014ko apirilaren 10a)^[1] Erresuma Batuko soziologo eta pertsonai publiko ezaguna izan zen. Bere lan zabalak eremu asko hartzen ditu: soziologia, literatura ingelesa, ikerketa kulturalak, batez ere Erresuma Batuko herri kulturari lotutakoak. Ildo horretan, proletario industrial ingelesaren kultura eta hau sortzen zen herritar instituzioen arteko harremanak eta hauek nola desagertzen ari ziren aztertu zuen, sarri Frankfurteko eskolako kideen diskurtso ezkorrak erabiliz.^[2] Ezaguna da ere Birminghamgo Unibertsitatean dagoen Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies-en sortzailetakoa izan zelako.^[3] Stuart Hallen arabera Hoggarten ekarpena Kultur ikasketak direlakoen eremuan literatur kritika ingelesaren tradiziotik dator. Hallek Hoggarti aitortzen dion beste ekarpen garrantzitsu bat, Gramsci aipatuz, Kultur ikasketak instituzionalizatu izana da.^[4]
