1861ean merkatuak hartzen duen espazioa liberalek Erreforma Gerran lortutako garaipena ospatzeko azoka bat egiteko okupatu zen. 1889an, hiru solairuko eraikin bat inauguratu zen, eta, bertan, upeltegiak, merkataritza-lokalak eta ur-hargune bat zeuden goiko solairuan. 1901ean, sute bat izan zen sotoetan, eta, beraz, eraikina erabat berreraiki eta 1902ko abenduaren 22an berrinauguratu zuten.
