Testu berezietan, historia lanetan edo eleberrietan, euskaraz Ansó edo Berari eman daiteke.[2]
Ibarraren mugak Bearno iparraldean, Canal de Berdún hegoaldean, Erronkariko ibarra (Nafarroa Garaia) eta Salbaterra Ezka mendebaldean, eta Hechoko ibarra ekialdean, dira. Ibarra Biniésko arroilak ixten du hegoaldetik.
Inguruko mendiak Petretxema (2.366 m), Ginebral de Gamueta (2.329 m), Atxerito (2.378 m), Hiru Erregeen Mahaia (2.428 m), Txamantxoia (1.945) eta Ezkaurre (2.050) dira. Ipar-ekialdean Alano mendilerroa dago. Mendi horietan barna ibiltzeko, Zuriza eta Linza ( biak euskal toponimoak) parajeetatik abiatu ohi da. Zurizan kanpaleku bat dago eta Linzan mendiko aterpetxea.[3]. GR 11 ibilbide luzea igarotzen da haranetik.[4]
Ansó eta Fago udalerrikoak dira ibarreko lurrak. Ibarrean mendebaldeko aragoieraren aldaera den ansotano dialektoaz mintzatzen da oraindik, hiztun gutxi gelditzen badira ere.
