El Gran Premio de Japón de Motociclismo de 1988 fue la primera prueba de la temporada 1988 del Campeonato Mundial de Motociclismo. El Gran Premio se disputó el 27 de marzo de 1988 en el Circuito de Suzuka.

El estadounidense Kevin Schwantz consigue su primera victoria en su palmarés y la primera victoria de Suzuki en seis años. Schwantz tuvo un bonito duelo con el vigente campeón, Wayne Gardner, antes de que el piloto de Honda cometiese un error en la última vuelta.[1]
