Opistodomo estis en la temploj de la Antikva Grekio, spaco klare distingita situa en la malantaŭa parto de la grekaj temploj; temas pri spaca elemento kiu kun la pronaoso (aŭ portiko) kaj la naoso (aŭ sanktejo mem) formis en kelkaj okazoj gravan templon, tamen la opistodomo ne estis uzita en tiom da temploj kiom la du antaŭe menciitaj kaj en ĝi oni konservis la trezoron de la dio. Ĝia nomo derivas el Οπισθόδομος, de őπισθεν (opistho = malantaŭe) kaj δόμος (domos = domo) ĉar la opistodomo estis situa en la malantaŭa parto de la templo, dum la naoso estis meze kaj la pronaoso malfermiĝis al la fronta fasado.
Laŭ Francisko Azorín opistodomo estas Malantaŭa parto de la grekaj temploj, kie oni konservis oferaĵojn, valoraĵojn.[1] Li indikas etimologion el la greka opisthaton + domon (malantaŭa konstruaĵo) kaj de tie la latina opistodomus.[2]
