La Registana Dezerto (en persa: ریگستان), konata ankaŭ kiel Rigestana Dezerto, estas tre arida altebena regiono inter la provincoj Helmando kaj Kandaharo en sudokcidenta Afganio. Ĝi estas sabla dezerto konsista el malgrandaj, ruĝaj sablaj montetoj ĉirkaŭ 30 m altaj, sablokovritaj ebenaĵoj, kaj malfermaj rok- kaj argil-kovritaj areoj. La suba bazo de la montetoj konsistas el parte stabiligitaj transversaj antikvaj dunoj, kio montras okcident-orientenajn ventojn kaj preskaŭ senliman sablodisponon. La dezerto estas tre dise loĝata de nomadaj Baluĉoj kaj Paŝtunoj. La dezerto estas iompostiome eniranta en najbaraj agrikulturaj areoj.[1]
Forta sekego en 1998 okazigis translokigon de proksimume 100,000 nomadoj el la Registandezerta regiono.[2] Plej el ili estas nun loĝantaj en provizoraj setlejoj inter la riveroj Argandabo kaj Helmando kaj Registano. La organizo de Unuiĝintaj Nacioj estas nune klopodante strategiojn por revenigi la nomadojn al ties tradicia vivmaniero por brutobredado en Registano. La Registana Dezerto estas migranta okcidenten, invadante iamajn agrikulturajn areojn. Unuiĝintaj Nacioj informis, ke "ĝis 100 vilaĝoj estis kaŝsita de la ventoblovitaj polvo kaj sablo". Nordokcidente de la lando, sablaj dunoj estas movante al agrikulturaj teroj. Oni observis sablajn dunojn de 15 metroj de alto blokante ŝoseojn, kio devigis loĝantojn establi novajn ŝoseojn.[3]
