Ōsakikamijima is coterminous with the island of the same name, which is one of the Geiyo Islands of the Seto Inland Sea between Hiroshima Prefecture and Ehime Prefecture.
The new town of Ōsakikamijima was formed on April 1, 2003, with the merger of the towns of Ōsaki, Higashino and Kinoe, all from Toyota District.
As of March 31, 2024, the town of Ōsakikamijima had an estimated population of 6,744 and a density of 160 persons per km2.[1] The total area is 43.24 km2.
