癙 (Kangxi radical 104, 疒+13, 18 strokes, cangjie input 大竹難女 (KHXV), four-corner 00117, composition ⿸疒鼠)
Schuessler (2007) suggests a relation to Proto-Tibeto-Burman *na-n/t (“ill, pain, sore, ache, difficult, evil spirit”), whence 儺 (OC nâi) "to expel demons of illness" (Analects), 難 (OC nân) "hard, difficult", Tibetan ན (na, “to be sick, ill”), ནད (nad, “disease, suffering”), སྣད་པ (snad pa, “to hurt, harm, injure”), Burmese နာ (na, “to suffer pain, to be ill”), နတ် (nat, “nat (spirit), evil spirit”), and reconstructs 癙 (*hljaʔ) as nhaʔ (though with uncertainty). 癙 (*hljaʔ)'s possible relation to *na-n/t functions as evidence for reconstructing initial n- for 鼠 (OC nhaʔ) in the same phonetic series.
STEDT, however, does not count 癙 (*hljaʔ) among *na-n/t's Chinese comparanda along with 難 (OC *n̥ʰaːn, *naːns) and 耐 (OC *nɯːs).
